What educators are saying

My students loved using this resource! They were engaged and had no trouble getting started. It didn't take much time to prepare this resource, so it was easy for me to use in a time crunch. I adapted it a little bit for my struggling student and had them skip some of the more challenging questions.

Rated 5 out of 5

I loved this resource. I taught literal equations in October so I loved that the students could do something for Halloween/fall. My students love to draw and it provided good practice for them on literal equations.

Description

This self-checking coloring activity will be a student favorite, year after year! Not only is it SUPER FUN and perfect for Halloween and fall math activities, but it is also super easy for you to grade and includes two leveled versions so you can easily differentiate for your learners' needs! A DIGITAL option is now included for distance learning! This product includes 12 self-checking problems that instruct students how to color ("carve") their pumpkins. This is perfect for an Algebra 1 class and is great to break up the monotony of solving literal equations yet provides invaluable practice, especially since this is a topic many students struggle with. This would also be perfect for an emergency sub day and could even be used as a homework assignment! This activity is also great for a Halloween math or fall math celebration day! Don't let all that fun fool you, though, the rigor is most definitely there! ★ This activity is the perfect follow-up to these notes over solving literal equations and allows students to get much needed additional practice in a fun and engaging way! DIFFERENTIATED FOR YOU - Two Versions Included:
This activity also includes a second, modified version so you can accommodate the needs of all students in your classroom. Some of the problems are the same between the two versions, but the more challenging problems from the original set have been swapped out for easier ones that can help reach all learners in your classroom! Check the preview to see the included problems. ★Perfect for distance learning, a Google Slides version is included for both levels of this activity! TIP: I really struggle at drawing/coloring, so what I do is trace the shapes (eyes/nose/mouth) onto the coloring page! It works great! ★ Want to make your own printable carving pumpkins activity?
